ATLANTA — May 10, 2014 — At approximately 5pm, strong gusts of wind swept down Memorial Drive and knocked down an already damaged and leaning sign. One motorist pulling into the parking lot at 415 Memorial Drive just barely missed getting injured; her timing was such that her trunk suffered only a minor scrape by the estimated 400 pound sign and post. A pedestrian was walking under the sign just seconds before it fell. City of Atlanta needs to check for and repair damaged signs before someone gets knocked into Grady Memorial Hospital.
