iFound: a great Dominican Hair Salon!

As a job seeker and Avon rep, I get to see LOTS of really cool stuff:  The GA State Capital, Lockheed Martin aeroplanes being tested, a flock of turkeys, interesting businesses, etc.

Today I’m highlighting (pun intended) Simone’s Hair Salon.  I learned some things while chatting with Simone and a customer getting her hair styled:

  1. It takes a LOT of love for the business woman to do hair – Simone works long hours and sometimes stays after normal hours to help an emergency customer.
  2. Regulation Choke is a real thing – did you know that hair salons have several dozen regulations that they must follow?  Fines are around $200 to $1,000.
  3. The right hair style can land you a job – Simone is in the business of making you look your absolute best, hair-wise.  If you are jobless, consider a new hair style.
  4. Hair stylists are the most honest people – this is why women ask them for advice.
  5. The hair business is Big Business!  Simone showed me nearly a dozen tools and products she uses in her salon.
  6. The sign of a good stylist in in her before and after pictures – what does YOUR stylist have for a portfolio?  Simone’s salon walls are sprinkled with pictures of frizzy, bleak hair that has been turned into sleek, professional designs.

I can’t give a review without honest experience, so I asked to sit and watch a style get done.  Every detail was gone through – the lovely lady is a bank teller, and she walked in with a short afro and walked out with a layered look where the bangs swept back from the face ad the layers ends were curled sweeping back toward the back of the head – it reminded me of a bird’s wing.  Simone had crushed up the hair on the neck so the style had some more volume.

The layered look is a professional look.

After watching Simone at work, I wil probably be getting my hair cut there as well, especially since I know she is as detailed as she is (I have that annoyingly fine hair).

Cheers!
