QuikTrip has taken over the dead retail spot on South Cobb Drive and Austell Roads. Opening date is scheduled for Thursday, July 28th.
For those seeking jobs, this location is fully staffed. A manager at the QuikTrip on Austell encouraged applications anyway – he stated that some of the other locations may have openings.
Personally, I’m disappointed about all the businesses closing down here in Cobb County – the recession here isn’t going away in a *long* time – we have over 3,000 empty apartments in the Smyrna area alone. The situation has gotten so bad that the City of Smyrna bought out one of these apartment complexes and is now attempting a late flip on the property to try and fleece someone into paying too much for the property a second time (they succeeded at Time No. 1). I’m saying that it’s a possible sweetheart or back-scratch-buddy deal.
“Ever since that air base closed…” Yeah. Jobless recovery, indeed – to a lower standard of living. We have shopping cart thefts at an all-time high, and now the Bus Bench looks exactly like an over-turned broken shopping cart, and the heavy bus benches (need I say they are – er, were – metal?) were “disappeared” as soon as the WE BUY METAL signs were put up. Yep. Jobless Recovery. So, who’s paying, again?
